Privacy Policy
I am Miguel Pagan, and this is my personal site. I built it to show my professional background to recruiters, hiring managers and colleagues, and to make it easy to get in touch. I keep data collection to the minimum that job needs. This page explains what that minimum is.
Who is responsible for this site
I am. I run the site myself as an individual based in New York Metropolitan Area. There is no company behind it, no data protection officer and no advertising. If you have any question about your data, email me at Myke0526@gmail.com.
What I collect, and why
If you use a contact form
The site has two forms: one to send me a message, and one to send me a role you think I should look at. They ask for your name, your email address and your message, and optionally a company name, a job link and a note. I use that only to read what you sent and to reply. Providing it is voluntary. If you prefer, you can email me directly or find me on LinkedIn.
The forms are delivered by web3forms, a form delivery service that acts as my processor. When you press send, it receives what you typed plus the technical details that come with any web request (your IP address, browser type and the time of submission), checks it for spam, and forwards the message to my email. I do not load its scripts on this site; the form is a plain submission. Its own privacy policy is published at web3forms.com. If the delivery service is unavailable, the form falls back to opening your own email program with the message prefilled, and in that case nothing passes through a third party at all.
The forms include a hidden field that only automated bots fill in. It is there to catch spam and collects nothing from a person. There is no CAPTCHA.
If you download my résumé or contact card
The PDF résumé and the vCard contact file are plain downloads. No registration, no tracking, nothing beyond the ordinary server logs described below.
If you use the share feature
"Recommend Miguel" opens your own email program, messaging app or social network with a link to this site prefilled. Nothing is sent to me, and I do not see who you shared it with.
Fonts
The typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google's servers, and Google receives the technical details of that request, including your IP address, in the same way as any file served from a third party. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy. I chose this over self-hosting for speed and reliability; if that changes, I will update this page.
Server logs
Like every website, this one is served by a hosting provider, and my hosting provider may keep standard server logs: IP address, page requested, date and time, browser type and referring page. Those logs exist for security and to keep the site running. I do not combine them with anything else or use them to identify visitors.
Analytics
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, and Cloudflare Web Analytics gives me aggregate visitor counts (page views, country, browser type, referring site). It is cookieless: it sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device, and does not fingerprint or follow you across sites. I see totals, not individuals. Cloudflare's own privacy policy covers the small script that reports those totals.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no cookies of its own. It may store one small setting in your browser's local storage, and only if you choose it: whether you paused the scrolling ticker on the home page. It contains no personal information, never leaves your browser, and you can clear it through your browser settings. The Cookie Policy has the details.
Legal basis, for visitors in the UK or European Economic Area
Where European data protection law applies to you, I rely on your consent when you choose to send me a message, and on my legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working for server logs. You can withdraw consent at any time by asking me to delete your message. I am in the United States, so your data is handled here; my service providers may transfer data under standard contractual clauses or similar safeguards, described in their own policies.
How long I keep things
I keep messages you send me for as long as our conversation is live and for up to 12 months afterwards so that I can follow up, then I delete them. web3forms keeps its own copy according to its retention settings, which I keep as short as the service allows. Server logs are kept by the host for its standard period. Nothing else is retained.
Who else sees your data
Only the service providers named above, each of which processes data on my behalf: the form delivery service, the hosting provider and Google Fonts. I do not sell, rent, trade or share your information with anyone for marketing. I would disclose it only if required by law.
Your rights
You can ask me, at any time, to tell you what I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email Myke0526@gmail.com and I will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or the UK and are not satisfied with my answer, you may complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident: the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to businesses that meet certain revenue or data-volume thresholds. This is a personal site run by one individual and does not meet them, so the CCPA's formal rights do not apply here. The rights above are available to you anyway.
Links to other sites
This site links to LinkedIn and may link to other sites. They have their own privacy practices, and I am not responsible for them.
Children
This site is not aimed at anyone under 16, and I do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent me information, email me and I will delete it.
Changes
If I change this policy I will update the date at the top of this page. Anything material will be noted here.
